Inflatables

We strongly advise that inflatable toys, airbeds and dinghies are not used in the sea. These can be swept out to sea very swiftly, even in a slight breeze. Surf conditions are particularly dangerous for inflatables.

If you insist on bringing an inflatable to the beach, please take the following precautions to minimise the risk of an incident:

  • Children's inflatables should always have a line connected - held securely by an adult on the shore.
  • Make sure children are within easy reach at all times.
  • Only use inflatable's between the red and yellow flags.
  • Always follow advice given by a lifeguard.
  • Never take an inflatable out in strong winds, or when there are big waves.

Remember: if an inflatable is drifting out to sea, don't go after it. If you notice someone is being swept out to sea on an inflatable, tell a lifeguard or call the coastguard immediately.
